Al-Hashemy

To India we went by our vast vessel,
The huge Baghla* that hates to settle,

Al-Hashemy* wades through the stormy night,
Sailing eastward with all its might,

Kutchi* appears as a forth ward arbor,
Miles away shows its enormous harbor,

To my father, rushes the maharajah altogether,
With tearful eyes like a broken feather,

(My daughter got ill and we found no cure,
Bless her by some recitation, since you are pure)*,

(I want no payment, Allah is The Giver,
Only He shall reward me, The Thankful The Forgiver)*,

By God's will she woke up and started to glitter,
After a long illness that was hard and bitter.

We toured in the markets for benefit and trade,
Bought saffron and perfumes and other things they made,

Then returned to the port, our ship to equip,
To find it all broken, nothing left but a chip,

We wondered and asked all those workers around,
They said the maharajah ordered it to be aground,

So that he may thank you by building it anew,
Gratitude is but to Allah, the best revenue,

As your ship is old, frayed, and worn out,
We shall build you a worthy new one with no doubt,

We remained in Kutchi as we had no adoptions,
Till the new Hashemy stood up with all its full options,

Back in our Kuwait, we were a source of comment,
(Sayed Saleh) came back much better than he went.
